Hey Boys!
Sorry I have taken so long to get back on here. I was hoping to give you all some updates throughout training camp as it was my first pro camp, but I moved into my apartment for the year and we didn’t have internet until about a week and a half ago. All I can say is camp was good as I made the team. There were a number of tough battles in camp that saw guys competing hard for jobs. We started off our season with two exhibition games against the CHL expansion team out of Independence, MO the Missouri Mavericks. In our two game exhibition set against them we took the first game 3-0 where I played the first half of the game picking up a split of the shut out. In the second game, we won 3-2 in a shootout. I played the second half of the game and won it in the shootout stopping 3 of the 4 shooters. It was good to get into some games and prove to management and myself that I could play.
The real season started on the 16th of October where we took on the Amarillo Gorillas. We came out hard, but couldn’t get any bounces and had trouble finding the back of the net. I got my first pro start the following night against the Mississippi River Kings. With a stomach full of butterflies I played well, but ended up losing the game as we once again struggled finding the net only potting 1 goal over our opening weekend. After a week of hard practices, we had 3 games in 3 nights. I got the start once again on Friday against, as our P.A. Annoucer calls them “THE HATED TULSA OILERS.” We came out hard and our offence finally got going and I took a shutout going into the last 10 minutes of the third, until I was beat on a 2 on 1. We slammed the door shut after that and I got my first career pro win with a score of 5-1. The next night we travelled to Tulsa and ended up taken another tough loss, but we rebounded nicely on Sunday as we travelled to Mississippi and beating the River Kings 4-3 in their home barn for the first time since 2006. We headed home for a week of practice and just finished up a two game set against the Mavericks where we once again struggled to find the back of the net only lighting the lamp once over the weekend.
As a team we have got off to a poor start, but we have the talent to turn things around and I think we will. We have played a lot better then our 2-5 record shows and things will start to fall into place. So far my experience of playing pro hockey has been great. The fans in Wichita are great and we have so much support from the community. Hopefully we can turn things around to give them some entertaining and exciting hockey.
On that note, I am going to sign off and I will try and be better at keeping you guys up to date. Keep your stick on the ice and continue to carry the dream!

Hey Boys,
Hope everyones season, training camps are going well. I am still playing the waiting game as camp doesn’t start til October 5th and I am definately getting anxious and excited! I was planning on heading down a few ago to take some time to visit the beauties at my alma mater, but my visa has not come in yet so I have been here in Canada skating with my old junior team. I definately feel old skating with them, but I am glad to see the young boys are just as big of beauties as they’ve ever been! Anyway, just wanted to let you boys know that I will try and keep things up to date on here during training camp to give you guys an inside look at the minor pro experience as I go through it all for the first time. Til then, keep your stick on the ice and continue to slay those dragons!

Fellas,
Sorry it has been a while since my last post. I have been busy with training and hockey leading up to camp. As most of you have already started, I don’t have to report to camp until October 1st. It is a long wait and the anticipation of my first pro camp is killing me. The days are counting down for me as I am heading out next Wednesday to make the trek down to my alma mater Lake Forest College to check in with a couple of the old boys and then off to Wichita, Kansas! I am really looking forward to the adventure and it will be fun playing along side a couple guys I played against in college as well as junior. I am also pretty jacked up about being able to play with another Forester Alumni as Mike Kneeland just signed with the Thunder for this upcoming season as well. Things are just getting going and I look forward to see how everything ends up. Til next time…keep your stick on the ice and keep on slayin’!

Hey there fellers!
Hope everyone is doing well with the hockey season upon us. I have a few more weeks before I have to report to my first pro camp, so in the meantime I have been training and hitting the golf course playing with a great goalie legend. This past Tuesday I participated in Johnny Bower’s final charity golf tournament. As a youngster who never saw Mr. Bower play the game, I still call Johnny my idol. I have met him on two occassions before when I was much younger and was starstruck by him. On Tuesday I once again had the privledge of meeting Mr. Bower and actually eating our post golf-game dinner together and we talked at length about hockey, his career, and about never giving up on your dream. Johnny would know, as it took him til the age of 33 to crack an NHL roster. I feel very honored to have had the chance to talk to such a legend and Johnny Bower is not only a legend as a goalie, but he is the most humble and gentlemanly man I have ever met. It was a great day and one I will remember the rest of my life. Well boys…til next time, keep your stick on the ice!

Hey there, Hi there hockey fellas. I hope everyone is getting jacked up for their upcoming seasons with training camps on the horizon and that little frozen puck waiting to be pounded across our frozen landscape. I have been training hard gearing up for my first pro camp and am currently skating at a pro camp up in Barrie, ON. A number of Division I college players are out as well as NHLers and draft picks and other minor pro guys like Mark Popovic, Matt Belesky, Jeremy Swanson, Scott Hotham, Matt Kennedy, Brett Parnham and Dan Cloutier. The week culminates with a charity game on Thursday night that is being put on by the PAK (Players Assisting Kids) which will donate the money to four local charities. Some of the other names that are playing in the game in addition to the guys named above include, Dan Ellis, BJ Crombeen and possibly the #1 overall draft pick in this years draft John Tavares. It should definately be an exciting game with very little defence so I am looking forward to a number of unstoppable pucks coming my way. There is a little update on what I am doing in getting ready for the upcoming season. Hope everything is falling into place for you boys and good luck in training camps and try-outs. Keep your stick on the ice!

Hey boys…just wanted to give you a little background about myself and let you know what I will be talking about in this blog. This is the first time I have ever done anything like this, so bear with me as I am a hockey player! I just finished up a four-year college career at Lake Forest College where I played goal. Prior to my college career, I played for a number of junior teams. My last stop before LFC was with the Elmira Sugar Kings of the Midwestern Jr. B League in Western Ontario. Before I strapped my pads on for the Sugar Kings, I played for the Kingston Voyageurs and Wellington Dukes in the Ontario Junior Hockey League. I have signed a pro contract with the Wichita Thunder of the CHL for the 2009-2010 season and am looking forward to my first pro season. Follow my blogs throughout the season and learn the ropes as a pro hockey player as I learn for myself. Keep your stick on the ice!
